Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – The plans for a planned multifunctional hall at the Kaiserlei roundabout between Frankfurt and Offenbach threaten to fail. After the first investor dropped out in May, the second bidder has now also informed the city that it will not submit an offer for a hall only. The “Bild” newspaper and the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” reported unanimously on Tuesday. The responsible department of the city itself could not be reached for a comment.
Ice hockey and basketball should be played in the hall. In response to the city’s tender, two potential investors applied. “Preferred bidder” was the Langano bidding consortium. This offer had met the city’s expectations the most. However, no final offer had been received by the deadline on May 11th.
The city then placed its hopes on the competitor Anschutz-Entertainment-Gruppe (AEG). However, these plans were larger than the city wanted – including a hotel. The investor was therefore asked to adjust his plans – but he refused. A spokesman for the company told the “FAZ” that they were prepared to “negotiate on the basis of our old offer”.
The urban property near the Autobahn 661 was to be granted as heritable building right. It was initially unclear on Tuesday whether the proceedings would end with the withdrawal of the second interested party or whether there were further options. At the same time, there are investors who want to build an even larger arena at the airport.
