The President of the Republic assured that, in order to respond to the need for a hospital unit in better conditions, the Executive will build a new structure over the next two or three years, also understanding that the current one is in an advanced state of degradation. .

However, João Lourenço considered the idea of ​​carrying out deep interventions in the old structure with patients inside difficult, which is why he announced that an annex block will be built that will include the emergency bench, the operating theaters and the sterilization unit. .

“Within two to three years, we will build the new Malanje General Hospital. It is promised; The first stone has been laid, and the commitment remains.

We are going to build a modern hospital in Malanje, following the example of what we have been doing in other provinces”, he promised.

He said that, after the completion of this unit, the current hospital will be extensively rehabilitated and, in the end, the province will end up with two reference units, without prejudice, however, to the need to look at the construction of healthcare units as well. primary level.

Centrality with 2500 dwellings

The President also said that the province will gain a new centrality with 2500 housing units, whose work should begin between the end of this year and the beginning of next.

João Lourenço’s announcement was made without, however, admitting that these types of constructions do not represent the solution to the housing problem in the country. “I’m not just referring to Malanje.

I mean the country. Centralities help; they can accommodate a certain segment of our population, but the solution for everyone is self-construction, where the State’s responsibility is to provide land, preferably infrastructured”, he said.

However, he also said that a set of solutions must be combined, from social housing and centralities built by the State, to self-construction, housing cooperatives and entrepreneurs who wish to build houses to sell or rent.
