The section of the Gogoļa Street car lane along the construction site has been temporarily closed, which affects boarding at the public transport stop. Boarding is organized from the closed carriageway.

In the drivable part of Lāčplēša Street from Satekles Street to Kalupes Street, the flow of cars will be reorganized, changing one of the lanes. Currently, one lane in each direction is provided. Pedestrian movement is organized on one side of the street, along the territory of Abrenes Street.

Later, as the volume of construction works increases, longer traffic restrictions and related changes in traffic organization are expected in Lāčplēša Street.

The construction of Rail Baltica’s Riga Central Traffic Junction affects Lāčplēša Street, as underground communications and engineering networks are being changed and transformed there. The location of the new “Rail Baltica” overpass will change the axis of Lāčplēša Street, as a result of the reconstruction it will be slightly wider to ensure a full four car lanes and a pedestrian / bicycle crossing at Kalupes Street in the section from Kalupes Street.

During the construction process of “Rail Baltica” Riga Central Junction, works are underway on railway tracks from the railway bridge over the Daugava to Lāčplēša Street.

“Understanding that the construction works restrict convenient movement, we ask the residents to be tolerant for the sake of convenient traffic after the construction of Rail Baltica. We will keep our promises “One of such streets is Lāčplēša Street, and it is understandable that such a large-scale construction is not possible without any restrictions. On the part of BERERIX, we do our best to make changes in traffic and pedestrian flow understandable,” he explains. Andis Linde, Head of Stakeholder Relations, BERERIX Construction Company.

Currently, the large-scale construction, relocation and reconstruction works of signaling and other utilities are continuing on the tracks, but at the same time the track area is being prepared for larger construction works – construction of the southern part of the Station building, new platform and new European width standard for track construction.

The first visible changes of the Riga Central Railway Station began in November 2020, when the area between the existing Station building and the Ministry of Transport was demarcated and the first construction works began, which will continue in an already more intensive volume. The station building, tracks and adjacent infrastructure are being built in stages. Construction works are planned and organized in such a way that the station can continuously provide its services to passengers of incoming and outgoing trains. From March 28, 2021, the first three tracks were closed, which will be gradually converted for Rail Baltica and the new station. The reconstruction of these tracks will take place together with the construction of the southern part of the Station building and will take place until 2023.

BERERIX has merged into a general partnership Belgium “BESIX Group”, national builder “RERE Būve” and Italian builder “Rizzani de Eccher” with the aim to implement a significant part of the project “Rail Baltica” – design and reconstruction of the Riga Central Railway Station complex, design and construction of a new European gauge track and railway bridge over the Daugava, embankment and adjacent infrastructure.
