Construction of a data center: Gabon signs a memorandum with an Indian company – AGP

Libreville, June 30, 2023 (AGP) – The Gabonese Minister for the Digital Economy, Jean Pierre Doukaga Kassa, accompanied by his colleague from Tourism, Jean-Norbert Diramba, acting as the Minister in charge of Investment Promotion, has proceeded Thursday, June 29, to the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Indian company, Shapoorji-Pallonji, led by its CEO, Ransit Gajave for the construction of a digital data center in Gabon.

In his circumstantial speech, the Minister of Digital Economy, Jean Pierre Doukaga Kassa reiterated to the Indian side, the desire of the highest Gabonese authorities, headed by President Ali Bongo Ondimba, to make Gabon a digital hub in the Central African sub-region. This ambition was also supported by the Indian vice-president during her recent visit to Gabon.

During this visit, three projects related to digital technology, housing and the road were selected.

For the boss of the Digital Economy in Gabon, the project to build a Data Center (a data center) is a priority. With this in mind, he instructed the Director General of the Company of Heritage and Digital Infrastructure (SPIN) to initial this memorandum with the Indian company, which is in pole position in his country in terms of construction of data centers.
