Construction is getting deeper and deeper

There is a streak of weaker data on construction and assembly production. The sector that initially showed resilience to the pandemic is farther away from its February state.

In July, construction and assembly production was down 10.9 percent. lower than in June and by 8.5 percent. lower than in July 2019 – informed the Central Statistical Office.

Analysts surveyed by PAP Biznes expected a decline in construction and assembly production by 4.5% year-on-year, and a month-on-month increase by 3.5%.

In July, the Central Statistical Office recorded a decrease in sales both in companies dealing with the construction of buildings (-7.6% y / y) and in enterprises building civil engineering facilities (-16.9% y / y). The level of production from the previous year was also not maintained by units performing “specialist construction works” (-2.9%).

– After eliminating the influence of seasonal factors, construction and assembly production was 8.5% lower compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and 3.6% lower than in June 2020 – Polish statisticians add.
