In November, prices for construction materials increased by 0.7%, costs for maintenance and operation of machinery and equipment – by 0.6%, while wages and salaries decreased by 0.1%.
In November, the average level of construction costs was mostly affected by the increase in prices for asphalt concrete. The reduction in wages for road construction and artificial construction auxiliaries had a depressing effect.
Compared to November 2020, construction costs increased by 11.9%. Prices for construction materials increased by 18.0%, costs of maintenance and operation of machinery and equipment – by 6.9%, but wages and salaries of workers increased by 4.3%.
The CSB reminds that in 2021, data on construction resource prices will be provided by about 200 construction companies and more than 50 trade companies. The prices of construction materials provided by enterprises for the calculation of the producer price index in industry and the import price index are also used in the calculation of the construction cost index. In addition, the registered consumer prices for construction materials are used in the calculations.
The sample of the price survey includes construction companies, which in 2020 had the largest volume of self-performed construction work. 90.3% of the surveyed companies carried out the amount of work performed on their own. of which 34% of companies’ work was over 5 mln. euros per year. The selection criteria for trading companies are their turnover and specialization. The report on construction resource prices for November was submitted by 94.8% of enterprises, the amount and quality of submitted data do not differ significantly from previous periods.
