Home > News > Start of work on the Lyon route 2 on Stalingrad and Vivier Merle

A new Lyon route is entering the construction phase! Work on Voie Lyonnaise 2 will start on July 3 on Boulevard Stalingrad and on July 10 on Boulevard Vivier Merle.

The Metropolis of Lyon is making progress on the deployment of its network of secure cycle paths: the Voies Lyonnaises. By 2026, you will go from Fontaines-sur-Saône to Saint-Priest by bike, on a totally secure route. On the route: the Cité Internationale, the Transbordeur, the western entrance to the Tête d’Or park, the B metro at the Brotteaux stop, the Part-Dieu station and the Tobacco Factory.

Works on boulevard Stalingrad

The first phase of work on Voie Lyonnaise 2 begins on July 3 on Boulevard Stalingrad, on the section between Boulevard du 11 Novembre 1918 and Avenue Verguin. The construction site will be finished at the end of the year. Here, the Métropole de Lyon is developing a two-way cycle path, a sidewalk and plantations between the plane trees on the side alley of the boulevard.

During the works, the right-hand traffic lane on Boulevard Stalingrad will be blocked in the north-south direction between Boulevard du 11 Novembre 1918 and Avenue de Verguin. On this section, vehicles heading south will therefore travel on a single lane. Rue Louis Guérin will be made one-way for general traffic during the works, and will be a privileged route for cycles while waiting for the arrival of VL2. Local access will be maintained for the duration of the works.

La Voie Lyonnaise 2 will allow cyclists to travel along the Parc de la Tête d’Or On Boulevard Vivier Merle, Voie Lyonnaise 2 will spin towards the 8th arrondissement then Saint-Priest

Works on Boulevard Vivier Merle

From July 10, work will also begin on Boulevard Vivier Merle, in the 3rd, between Avenue Félix Faure and Cours Gambetta. Same program, the Métropole is developing the Lyon way and a new sidewalk. These spaces will be separated from traffic by planting.
