Constitutional Court: Ecolo proposes Thierry Detienne to replace Zakia Khattabi

Ecolo proposed Thierry Detienne to the Constitutional Court, in place of Zakia Khattabi, LN24 announced Tuesday evening.

The decision was validated by the Greens at an extraordinary federation council with 85% of positive votes, according to the news channel. The next step will be to gain the confidence of the Senate. MP Zakia Khattabi learned in mid-May that she would not sit on the Constitutional Court. Indeed, it could not obtain the two-thirds majority required in the Senate. She then announced that she would continue her parliamentary mandate in the House.

Thierry Detienne joined the ranks of the Ecolo movement in the 1980s. He was first elected provincial councilor of Liège (1988-1991). He will sit in the Chamber in 1995. He will become Minister in charge of Social Affairs and Health in the Walloon government from 1999 to 2004.

In 2006, he was elected municipal councilor in Liège, in the opposition. In 2012, he was not re-elected to the Belgian Parliament. He will then resume his job as a teacher, trainer and consultant at the Center for Training and Psychosociological Intervention (CFIP). Then, he will be appointed director of a technical and vocational industrial secondary school, the Institut Saint-Laurent de Liège, in 2006. He will also be a director of the ALG (2008) or, member of the Tecteo steering committee in 2011 Mr. Detienne was appointed in July 2013 Commissioner-delegate of the government of the Wallonia-Brussels French Community to the Hautes Écoles and the Écoles supérieure des Arts.
