constitutional amendments supported by 75 percent of voters

For the period from June 25 to 28, 76 percent of respondents who participated in the vote supported amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation. This is evidenced by the opinion poll. VCIOM, which was attended by 163 thousand 124 people.

The survey was conducted at the exit of about 800 polling stations in 25 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The main voting day for amendments to the Constitution is scheduled for July 1.

In January of this year, during a message to the Federal Assembly, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin proposed a vote as amended by the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

On March 11, after considering the amendments to the State Duma in the final reading, it adopted the presidential bill. Then it was approved by the Federation Council, after which the document was supported by legislative assemblies of all subjects of the Russian Federation.

According to the presidential decree, the all-Russian voting day was set for April 22, but in connection with the pandemic COVID-19 the president in a televised address to citizens on March 25 announced the need to postpone the vote.

Amendments will enter into force only if approved by citizens.
