She is so exasperated that she wrote down the dates and times. “On Tuesday September 26, it rang at 3 a.m., 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. In total, in two weeks, the alarm went off 14 times when I was at home. And I didn’t write everything down! » Océane would have liked more peace and quiet since moving in early September into a residence in the ViaSilva district, in the town of Cesson-Sévigné. Object of the young work-study student’s anger: the unexpected triggering of the fire alarm at the park and ride facility, located just opposite her apartment, at the terminus of metro line B.
“When it rings, it lasts more than five minutes. First there is the alarm, then a voice gives safety instructions in all languages. Then the ringing starts again,” explains the young woman. “I have a fast pace of work and, mentally, it’s complicated to be woken up in the middle of the night several times. This week, there was not a time when I was able to sleep normally. »
A real noise nuisance whether during the day or at night which prevents real tranquility in our own home.

The siren goes off up to “five times” a day
Not everyone in the building seems as impacted as she is. Thanks, no doubt, to the location of their apartment, on the other side of the building. But one of her neighbors, on the upper floors, confirms that the situation has been going on for weeks and is not without its inconvenience. “It wakes me up too, but hey, I’m used to living in noise. My roommates complain about it a little more,” she says. “Some days there is nothing. Others, the siren sounds five times. »
To make things happen, Océane tried everything. She first went to see the site security officer. “There was nothing he could do. The alarm is too sensitive. » The system is triggered during sudden variations in the weather: wind, humidity or even large temperature variations… Determined to obtain answers, she also publicly questioned the Star network on Twitter, on which the park and ride depends.
“Settings in progress”
Response from customer service, in an email that we were able to consult: “We sincerely apologize for these incidents of which we are well aware. We are hopeful that we can eliminate these nuisance alarms. Unfortunately, once the sirens are triggered, it is impossible to turn off the sound. It’s a regulatory issue. »
Contacted by Le Télégramme, the site manager, Keolis, told us that “these types of adjustments are usual and had been necessary at other park-and-ride facilities (Les Gayeulles and Saint-Jacques – Gaîté)”. The car park, connected to metro line B, was put into service recently, in March 2023, six months late. He confirms that “adjustments are being made to remedy this quickly”. Océane and her sleep await them firmly.
