Urijah Faber was stunned to learn that the UFC failed to recognize Conor McGregor’s achievement to be crowned richest athlete in 2020 by Forbes.
The Irishman has only fought once in those scorching 12 months, knocking out Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, but amassed a great fortune through his various investments outside of the Octagon.

Conor McGregor reached No. 1 on Forbes roster, but was shut out by UFC
A burning desire to fight, despite beating Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in Forbes’ No.1 sport after winning around $ 180million (£ 127.75million), means the 32-year-old wants to return and prove its place among the best in the world.
Still, Faber, who befriended McGregor when they appeared as rival trainers on Ultimate Fighter in 2015, claimed no one in the promotion offered their congratulations.

“I reached out to congratulate him on being the number one paid athlete on the planet,” Faber told talkSPORT.com.
“When you do things like that, it’s just amazing.
“Shocking me, he said thank you and no one from the organization contacted him.
“And I thought it was a little strange; I mean, how awesome is it for our sport to have the guy who is the highest paid athlete in the world? “

‘California Kid’ contacted ‘Notorious’ following Forbes announcement
McGregor will fight for the second time in 2021 on Saturday night when he takes on Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in Las Vegas.
The pressure on “The Notorious” to avenge the knockout loss, the first of his MMA career, continues to mount day by day and he’s already started a mental war against Poirier this time around.
“When you start to do these things, it’s easy to forget how fragile people can be.
“I think he got a reminder that this is the real world and I think he’s probably going to make some adjustments and just be smarter this time around.”
