Irish police have launched an investigation into the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion.
MMA fighter criticized Irish immigration policies due to riots that broke out in Dublin
“I do not condone yesterday’s riots and attacks on our employees who were doing their duty. I do not condone robberies and looting. What happened last night did nothing to solve the problems we faced. But I understand the frustration and recognize the need for action to bring about change. And fast! I’m busy organizing. Believe me, I am much more organized, I have support. Mark my words, Ireland will live to see the change, the necessary change. If they don’t adopt a plan to keep Ireland safe soon, I will,” McGregor wrote on social media.
After announcing an investigation into the fighter for inciting hatred on the Internet, the athlete once again emphasized that he does not approve of the protesters’ methods, but understands that they were disappointed.
“There is a real failure in national security. We need a new organization set up to assess people entering Ireland. Both our citizens and our guests will benefit and gain peace of mind from its appearance,” added the former UFC champion.
Irish police arrested 34 protesters during riots in Dublin. Demonstrators reportedly caused extensive damage, with rioters smashing store windows and burning cars.
