Conor McGregor Announces UFC Return After Retirement

Irish Conor McGregor, UFC mixed martial arts fighter, announced this Sunday that he will return to the Octagon after being “retired” from fighting since 2021. McGregor, who is already warming up as a trainer on the UFC reality show The Ultimate Fighter 31, will face another trainer, Michael Chandler, at the end of the television show’s season.

In December, against Chandler, I have to do it because I’ve been playing with him.. Chandler next December and then Gaethje’s BMF and then we’ll do the Nate trilogy,” McGregor told TalkSport at London’s O2 Arena, where he was in attendance to watch Anthony Joshua vs. Robert Helenius fight.

In this way “The Notorious” (22-6) confirmed that he will fight in the UFC in December against Michael Chandler (23-8), while in 2024 he will face Justin Gaethje (25-4) and finally he will face for the third time with Nate Díaz (21-13)with whom McGregor won one match and lost another.

McGregor is away from fighting after suffering a horrific broken ankle against Dustin Poirier in 2021. Before he can secure his return to the UFC, the Irishman must undergo six months of drug testing and give a minimum of at least two negative tests, as the fighter was left out of USADA’s control group.

On the other hand, McGregor and Gaethje had a virtual run-in through the social network X (formerly Twitter) in early August: “Have you signed the contract, big guy?” Gaethje wrote to McGregor. The Irishman did not take long to launch a “signed”.
