Conor McGregor and Max Holloway laugh at Case of Mistaken Identity: ‘See you at the press conference’

Conor McGregor and Max Holloway may have faced off in the past, but that doesn’t mean the two former UFC featherweight champions can’t share a laugh either.

McGregor and Holloway memorably fought over three rounds in August 2013, with McGregor claiming a unanimous decision over Holloway in the Irishman’s second appearance at the UFC. Both men went on to rack up long winning streaks afterward and eventually captured their shares of the UFC Featherweight title, and both pondered many times how a rematch would play out if the two veterans clashed again. .

On Thursday, however, both made fun of a case of mistaken identity when McGregor posted a since-deleted video of a Holloway lookalike to Twitter and jokingly challenged, “See you at the press conference.” This clip can be seen below.

“My God. Oh my God, you guys. Oh my God, it’s Max Holloway, you guys. Maxima! Massimo, my brother! What’s new? … We’ll jump in there, yeah? See you for that second fight, yeah?” See you at the press conference You get everything I worked for damn it I wanna fight your fucking ass.

McGregor also referenced Nate Diaz’s famous line from Diaz’s 2015 post-fight interview that helped land him in McGregor’s fight and propel him to stardom.

Holloway, for his part, took the entire exchange in stride. “Blessed” took McGregor’s press conference call and even jokingly replied to a fan about him when he stopped McGregor’s death mid-interview in 2021 with his skateboard.

McGregor, 34, has been sidelined since the second of his straight losses to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. The former two-division champion is expected to return to action in 2023, but a timeline for that return has not yet been official. .

Holloway, 31, has not fought since suffering a third loss to current UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski in July at UFC 276, which ended a two-game winning streak.
