The passing genius who won the hockey allsvenskan’s scoring two years in a row in 2010 and 2011, and who gilded the arenas at all possible levels both in Sweden and abroad, has never announced any end to that career. This despite the fact that he was in as a coach last season in Surahammar.
Now games in division 4 await.
The newly started team Brödernas HC will have their series premiere against Trångsund on Friday night.
Conny is just one of several former elite players on the team.
The first five do not go off for picks.
The back pair Alexander Ribbenstrand and Jonas Liwing and onwards Strömberg will form a chain with Dick Axelsson and Patric Blomdahl.
– It will be a third session, and the hope is to be able to get me there anyway, says Conny Strömberg.
Will Dick Axelsson be able to borrow the puck if you are to play in the same chain and also in powerplay?
– I have a pretty clear picture of how we should line up. I’m in my position on the right, and then I imagine that Dick can stand as a pointman on the blue line, so then he will probably get a little puck, and so Liwing, who is right-handed, we will have on the other side so he can go on a direct shot. Blomdahl is allowed to stand in front of the goal and then I do not know who will play as the fifth man, we will see.
What is a reasonable point requirement for you at this level?
– Now Trångsund is probably the best team, but considering the company I get, I think you should probably be able to expect three or four points per match.
Are you going to play every game?
– No no. I will not play the weekly matches. It will be fun to play some weekend matches.
“It’s a kilo too much”
How is the shape?
– It is a few kilos too much on the stomach. But I keep walking, gym and paddle four to five days a week. But I would be lying if I said that the condition is top notch. It’s not what I want to promise.
Despite the fact that the scale may show a few kilos too much, the payment is made for him to line up and play, by getting burgers from the Brothers’ hamburger restaurants.
– I think and hope that I will get such a gold card. So we can only hope that they can open a restaurant in Övik. They have not really found the right place yet. But then I have to solve it for them, says Conny Strömberg.
Last week, 54-year-old Robert Burakovsky made a comeback for IK Pantern. Then in division 3.
His dividend was six points in two games.
Strömberg has noted that old “Burra” also made a comeback, and delivered.
Isn’t it a bit stingy to only promise three or four points for the nine year younger Conny Strömberg, at an even lower level in the league system, one might ask.
– Three to four points per match can be expected, but we will see if there will be more, says Conny.
When it comes to games in the 27th club in the order, Conny Strömberg has a thought.
Is he really the one who has the record for the most number of clubs for a Swedish player?
– Olow Sundström probably has a lot of clubs, says Conny.
The answer, however, is that Strömberg has more.
Already when he played in Teg, it became the 26th club and it beats the 25 clubs that Sundström represented.
– Micke Nylander then, Conny continues asking.
Not there either.
When you sum up “Nyllet’s” career, you land in 24 different club addresses.
Does Conny Strömberg have the most number of club addresses?
But Conny Strömberg still wants an answer, and he also thinks it should be praised in some way.
– Can you not find out if there is anyone else who has more than I have. It’s important you bring KB65 too, it’s my parent club where I played from when I was three until I was 16.
And yes, KB65 is on the list of the 27 clubs.
Then Conny finds out that he played a training match for Svedjeholmen last year.
– But the damn pandemic shut down the series. Otherwise it would have been 28 now. Then I had played a league match. Because you can not count training matches.
Either way, games now await in the 27th club.
Maybe there will be more.
If he does not eat too many burgers.
