Connor Bedard makes history as first player to win three CHL honors in 2022-23 season

As the WHL playoffs kicked off last March, all eyes were on Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats. Even though the team didn’t finish high in the standings, expectations were still high as this was likely the young star’s last season in the junior ranks.

Unfortunately for the future first overall pick, he and his club failed to defeat the Saskatoon Blades in the first round and lost in Game #7. Despite having played only 7 games, Bedard still accumulated an impressive 10 goals and 20 points.

Now that the CHL Finals are winding down, the league has handed out its trophies for the 2022-23 season. Unsurprisingly, the young virtuoso won three, being the best player, the best hope and the best scorer.

It’s actually the first time in Canadian Hockey League history that a player has won all three honours.

  • Bedard, who turns 18 this summer, has 71 goals and 143 points in 57 games this season. He is about to make the leap to the NHL, probably with the Chicago Blackhawks, who hold the first pick in the next draft.
