Vooruit chairman Conner Rousseau will be a guest in The House. He receives a surprise visit from his half-brother Steve, who gave a wedding party in the south of France last year in full corona. Rousseau is the first to respond to the controversy that followed.

In July 2020, when no dance parties were allowed according to the Belgian corona rules, images surfaced of a partying Conner Rousseau at his brother’s wedding. The party chairman claimed that everything went according to the rules, but the internet quickly went into a frenzy.

“Conner was not good at that,” says Steve Rousseau in The House. “The injustice was harsh. He didn’t respond then and I thought that was wrong.” Conner had his reasons for not responding. “Everything has been written. But you can’t say anything right about that,” he responds. “I hesitated for a long time about going and Steve was angry about it. I was there for my brother’s wedding, not to party.”

In Eric Goens’ house, the young politician is completely open to his questions. Is the premiership the ultimate goal? How does he deal with the many criticisms? And is the country’s youngest party chairman really happy? Upon arrival, he is immediately surprised with unique images from 2003, when he became the children’s minister of Children’s Rights and Welfare. “Oh, that hair! And those floppy ears,” he laughs. The House can be seen at One on Tuesday at 8.40 pm.
