Connecting Generations and Cultures at L’Été en place ados: Z’idées Gramounes Association

While waiting for the departure for a family vacation with their brothers and sisters and their parents, Hanna and Nail, young Martine teenagers educated at the Édouard-Vaillant college, meet with some friends from their establishment at L’Été en place ados, Paul-Langevin sports space, since its opening in early July.

Among all the activities offered by the associations, Hanna confides that she was particularly interested in the Z’idées Gramounes association, created in the first half of 2023 and whose objective is to bring people of different generations and cultures together to transmit knowledge and experiences. Joëlle, a Martinéroise of Reunionese origin and a former cook, taught young people in her workshop how to cook West Indian bread rolls.

Further on, she was able to meet Gabriel Guillon, president of L’Échiquier martinérois. This chess club created in 2014 allows experienced players to meet to play with each other every Thursday. It is also open to adults, and training sessions are open to learn game techniques. Hanna is very interested in this club because for her, this game attracts her but it seemed a bit mysterious and technically complicated. After a little initiation, they therefore agreed to meet at the beginning of September for the start of classes.

From the protection of nature, the production of a newsletter for a sports club…

Sensitized by the environment and the protection of nature, she was able to discuss with Adrien from the association “En vert et avec tous”. This association has been acting since 2017 in favor of sustainable food, by offering education through action and by organizing. Workshops, gardens, games and educational cycles to address all food-related themes, from seed to plate. He also told him about his pedal scooter that he is developing thanks to his microenterprise and which allows travel in the urban area without polluting and which allows him to transport people doing errands in town but also elderly people or people with reduced mobility who are looking for a way to walk to break their loneliness.

As for Nail, who has a project to produce a newsletter for all the members of his sports club, he was able to meet Saoudi Lyanine from the La Petite Poussée association during his visits to L’Été en place to discuss his project with him and help him make it happen. Since 2006, the association La Petite Poussée has been promoting, via video and digital technology, the voice and civic engagement of people of all ages and backgrounds.

At the end of the afternoon, all this little world rich in information collected went to let off steam by trying out the various sports activities offered by different clubs in the town.
