A practical example of the use of the conjunction of laser scanning and BIM system in the
construction could be the renovation of a historic building. In this case, it
can use laser scanning to obtain a three-dimensional image of the building and
create a 3D digital model from the collected data. Then this model
can be imported into the BIM system to be able to work with it and carry out the
renovation planning and design.
The BIM model would allow architects and designers to work collaboratively on
the project, and share precise information and details about the building. The model
may include detailed information on the building’s geometry, structure,
materials and systems, allowing designers to work more
precision and efficiency.
The BIM model can also be used to simulate and visualize the impact of
design proposals in the building, helping to make informed decisions
