He Congress of the republic some days ago subscribed an Agreement of Intent with the Supervisory Agency for State Procurement (OSCE). This, with the purpose of providing accompaniment and technical support to the managers of the contracting of the national parliament to contribute to transparency, integrity and efficiency in public procurement processes.
This agreement occurs after the scandal of the luxurious buffets that were offered to congressmen on the days that there were plenary sessions.
The act was led by the head of the CongressJosé Williams Zapata, and by the executive president of the OSCEThere is Basulto Liewald.
In his speech, the head of the Legislative pointed out that the OSCE will fulfill an important task in monitoring the purchasing and acquisition processes carried out by the Congress in a timely, fast and sustainable manner.
“With this we are going to improve so that everything works correctly. It is about technical prevention and you will help us in this important task. The follow-up they will do is very valuable”Williams said.
Likewise, he highlighted the work carried out by the supervisory body with other institutions of the state and to which is now added the Congress of the republic.
“I appreciate the interest they have in helping us,” he remarked.
Institutional strengthening of the Legislative Branch
In addition, he added that there is a policy of rapprochement of the OSCE towards the public administration entities of the three levels of government at the national level, in order to reinforce the technical support and capacity building of the technical teams in charge of public procurement.
“We celebrate that Congress has requested the support and collaboration to strengthen the capacities of its managers. We are happy to be able to help provide technical support so that the contracting procedures have the proper support from the beginning of the process”emphasized the head of the OSCE.
