Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Congress leader Siddaramaiah engaged in a Twitter war over the alleged government inaction in bringing back 31 tribals from Karnataka who are stuck in crisis-hit Sudan. The former Chief Minister of Karnataka accused the government of leaving the Hakki Pikkis stranded without food for the past few days. However, Mr Jaishankar countered that it was irresponsible to politicize their situation, adding that every effort was being made to bring them back. The Indian Embassy in Sudan advised all citizens to stay indoors and remain safe due to ongoing violence that has killed at least 185 people and injured over 1,800. The government has set up a Control Room to provide assistance to Indians trapped in the conflict. Supply shortages and hospital shutdowns are also reported.
