Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has hit back at Rahul Gandhi’s tweet linking him to Gautam Adani and alleged that while on foreign state visits, Rahul Gandhi meets “undesirable businessmen”. Azad emphasized that there is no connection between him and any businessmen, but the Congress party has connections to many businessmen. Four out of the five former Congress leaders in the graphic used in Gandhi’s tweet have dismissed the allegations, with only Azad implicating himself further. While talking to Asianet, Azad said that there are numerous instances where Rahul Gandhi visits “undesirable businessmen” both inside and outside of India, and he can “give you ten examples” of the same. Himanta Biswa Sarma, one of the Congress leaders mentioned in the graphic who has subsequently joined the BJP, has said that he will file a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. Ghulam Nabi Azad has also expressed his disappointment with the current state of leadership in the Congress party, stating that he does not agree that Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has benefited Congress. He emphasized that younger generations are ten times more frustrated with the leadership than the senior members, and Congress leadership is promoting BJP, causing the party to sink.
