Congress approved Legislative Resolution 7541/2023-PE, which authorizes the entry into Peru of military personnel from the United States of America, Colombia and Ecuador, to carry out training cooperation activities with the Armed Forces, associated with the Resolute Military Exercise Sentinei 2024, from May 1 to June 23, 2024.
The president of the Commission on National Defense, Internal Order, Alternative Development and the Fight against Drugs, Patricia Chirinos Venegas (Avanza País), maintained that the benefits of this provision are significant, as it would improve the capabilities and operational performance of the special forces. .
“It will also allow our Armed Forces to be eligible for future planning with US and NATO forces,” he said.
In this sense, he gave details of the troops and activities that they will carry out:
-1098 soldiers with weapons of war, from the United States of America, whose activities will be carried out in Ancón, Salinas, Arequipa, Iquitos, Lima, Pucallpa and Pucusana, from May 1 to June 23, 2024.
-73 soldiers with war weapons and aircraft from the Republic of Colombia, who will carry out their actions in the port of Callao, Arequipa, Piura and Lima, from May 26 to June 16, 2024.
-36 soldiers from the Republic of Ecuador, whose activities will take place in Lima, from May 28 to June 12, 2024.
-15 soldiers with weapons of war from the Republic of Ecuador, whose activities will be carried out in Vítor and La Joya, from May 28 to June 15, 2024.
