Congress announces hunger strike against Gehlot’s government amidst Patanaich Pilot controversy.

Jaipur: Sachin Pilot is planning to go on a one-day hunger strike in protest against the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan. Former Rajasthan Congress president Pilot’s strike against his own government has created a big crisis for the Congress national leadership.

Sachin Pilot said that the strike is protesting against the Gehlot government’s unwillingness to investigate the corruption allegations against former BJP Chief Minister Vasundhara Raja Scindia.

Pilot’s allegation is that the Gehlot government is not yet ready to conduct an investigation into the allegations of corruption raised by the BJP when it was in power. NDTV reported that Sachin Pilot said that he will go on a hunger strike on April 11 as a sign of protest.

In 2018, Sachin Pilot accused the Gehlot government of failing to act on the allegations leveled by the main opposition Congress against the then Chief Minister Vasundhara Raja. He also alleged that the Rajasthan government did not reply to any of his letters protesting against this. He also asked the Congress to be ready to fulfill the promise it made to the people before coming to power.

“We have raised allegations against Vasundhara Raja Scindia’s BJP government together. As the then party state president, I had also made allegations against her. I am not a believer in revenge politics. But as the opposition, we were clear about the allegations we raised. That is why we came to power.

We have started talking to Geh Lot ji asking for an inquiry into the allegations leveled by us against the BJP for the last one and a half years. We have an obligation to convince the people that the Congress is true to its word.

On March 28, 2022, I am sending a letter to the government asking for an investigation into the allegation. I have also sent a letter later in November. But the government did not respond. It is because people believed in us that we were able to reach from 21 seats to 100 seats,’ said Sachin Pilot, Hindustan Times reported.

As two influential leaders in the Rajasthan Congress, the tussle between Gehlot and Sachin Pilot is reported to be tiring for the party in the upcoming elections. The Hindustan Times reported that these are signs that the crisis is still present even though the national leadership has intervened and resolved the differences that emerged in the last election.
