Congolese Rapper Games Cancels Concert in Tunisia Due to Plight of Migrants

Congolese rapper Games announced the cancellation of his August 11 concert in the Tunisian region of Djerba, denouncing the “unbearable plight” of migrants stuck between Tunisia and Libya.

“Children, women and men deported from Tunisia to Libya live in inhumane conditions,” the rapper wrote on his Instagram account on Sunday.

“I cannot continue my trip to Tunisia, which was scheduled for August 11th. I do not know where the solutions are, but this very difficult ordeal cannot be tolerated,” he added.

Migration boats break the coolness of the relationship between France and Italy

On Thursday, the United Nations called for “urgent solutions” to save hundreds of refugees and migrants who have been lost for several weeks near the Tunisian borders with Libya and Algeria, under disastrous conditions.

In the aftermath of clashes that killed a Tunisian citizen on the third of July, hundreds of African migrants were expelled from Sfax, in central eastern Tunisia, which is the main starting point for irregular migration to Europe.

Non-governmental organizations say that these were taken and abandoned in arid regions near Libya and Algeria.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organization for Migration indicated that these migrants are “stuck in the desert and face very high temperatures while they are deprived of shelter, food and water,” pointing to reports of deaths.
