Congo: Living together continues

Libreville, Sunday 1is October 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The working visit carried out this Sunday in Oyo by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema to his Congolese counterpart, Denis Sassou Nguesso, helped to dispel any misunderstanding between the two countries.

The Gabonese president continued this Sunday through neighboring Congo with the sub-regional tour that he began on September 19 through Equatorial Guinea. In Oyo, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema was received in audience by his counterpart Denis Sassou Nguesso. The exchange between the two men focused on subjects of common interest as well as security issues in the sub-regional and continental space.

“I came here to consult, discuss, exchange with the patriarch who can transmit to the highest authorities in this world what we have done and better explain to the whole world. Also, I came to appease the (ECCAS) sanctions. We intend to regain our place in the concert of nations,” declared Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.

Words from the Gabonese president which did not leave the authorities in Brazzaville indifferent. “I think that the Gabonese should support him and beyond the Gabonese, the Congolese that we are. Our brothers from Central Africa too,” said Jean-Claude Gakosso, the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During this trip, the Gabonese head of state visited several sites. In particular, the mausoleum of the late Édith Lucie Bongo Ondimba, former first lady of Gabon who died on March 14, 2009. A vibrant tribute during which the President of the Transition wrote a word in the guestbook dedicated to the occasion.

The President of the Republic also met with Yacine Queenie Bongo Ondimba and Omar Denis Junior Bongo Ondimba, son of the late President Omar Bongo Ondimba and grandchildren of the Congolese President, Denis Sassou Nguesso. This visit to Oyo, a town located 400 km from Brazzaville, clears up any misunderstanding between Libreville and Brazzaville.
