Congo-Ebola patient escapes for fear of new infections

BENI, Democratic Republic of Congo, April 19 (Reuters) –
The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Sunday
fear a new Ebola virus shoot in eastern
Democratic Republic of Congo after patient escape
of a clinic, complicating the authorities’ efforts to
contain the disease that has infected six people since the
last week.

The Democratic Republic of Congo was a few days from
the end of the second largest Ebola epidemic in the world
after a new chain of infections was discovered on the 10th
April, after more than seven weeks with no new cases.

Since then, health authorities have sought to contain
any new spread of infections.

But on Friday, a 28-year-old motorcycle taxi driver, who
had a positive Ebola test, fled from the center where he
was treated in the city of Beni.

“We have not yet details (…) The research
are underway, “said Boubacar Diallo, a manager of
WHO.
