Corona will certainly have played a role because many projects were canceled and postponed. But the figures that are now on the table are hard and confrontational. Harry and Meghan Markle have raised a lot less money than they had hoped with their charity organization Archewell. And worse, they’ve spent more on lawyers than what’s coming in.
Harry and Meghan received congratulations from all quarters when they launched their Archewell charity. They felt they had to give something back to society. Especially for people who were less fortunate than them. They collect money for charities through various events, but also through donations from generous sponsors. It could be anything.
But publicly released documents now show that they raised less than $50,000, just under 45,000 euros, in 2020. A ridiculously low amount, especially because they were almost certain that they could attract enough sponsors with their name. Not so.
Worse still, their new organization had to dissolve the original Sussex Royal UK foundation. And that apparently went less smoothly than they had hoped. They even spent more money, $55,600, on attorneys and other legal fees than what they collected.
However, there was more money in the Sussex Royal UK foundation’s treasury. But when they left Great Britain and the new foundation was established, that piggy bank remained in Great Britain and the money was not transferred to the new foundation of Harry and Meghan. Not even part of the money.
By the way, their new foundation has caused controversy from the start. And it won’t get any better now.
Still, Meghan and Harry keep their spirits up and believe in the success of their charitable work.
