After a confrontation in Michoacán, the arrest of five individuals linked to criminal activities was achieved. In addition, an impressive amount of weapons and tactical equipment was seized in the municipality of La Huacana.
The confrontation in Michoacán occurred within the framework of the Joint Operation for Peace and National Security, which involves the Civil Guard, the Army and the National Guard. During a patrol in the vicinity of Cupuán del Río, in the municipality of La Huacana, the security forces were attacked with large-caliber firearms.
In response to the attack, law enforcement forces repelled the attack and captured five alleged members of a criminal organization.
The Ministry of Public Security of Michoacán reported that in addition to the arrests, a large arsenal was secured consisting of:
– A Barret-type anti-armor rifle.
– 11 long weapons.
– A short weapon.
– 2,667 high caliber cartridges.
– 82 magazines for heavy caliber weapons.
– 8 tactical vests.
– 3 ballistic plates.
– A vehicle reported stolen.
Both the detained individuals and the seized war material were handed over to the competent Prosecutor’s Office to carry out the corresponding investigations.
