Conflux Technology, a leading heat transfer and additive manufacturing (AM) companyhas raised $11 million in a Series B funding round to further technology development and expand customer support globally. The round was led by Breakthrough Victoria with participation from AM Ventures and Acorn Capital. Conflux also works with us Odys Aviation together to advance the development of the next generation of regional VTOL aircraft.

Conflux Technology aims to solve heat exchange limitations while helping its customers achieve net zero by producing heat exchangers that are lighter, smaller and adaptable to unique geometries. With additive manufacturing, Conflux is able to print a high-performance heat exchanger as a single part, saving time, materials and energy to produce products more efficiently and reduce the environmental footprint.

“At Conflux Technology, we pride ourselves on providing efficiency through heat transfer performance and weight reduction at the heart of the world’s devices,” said Michael Fuller, founder and CEO of Conflux Technology. “With this additional funding and support, we will continue to develop our products and expand to serve our customers around the world.

The funds will be used to accelerate the development of Conflux Production Systems (CPS) – an advanced end-to-end manufacturing solution for the production of AM heat exchangers – as well as to scale hiring and meet customer demand in the US, Cover Europe and Asia. CPS is a comprehensive production system that replaces traditional heat exchanger manufacturing equipment and automates the production of complex AM structures to ultimately minimize supply chain risk, increase efficiency and optimize operations.

“Investing in Conflux and its revolutionary new heat exchanger technology is a sign of our commitment to sustainable innovation and efficiency,” said Grant Dooley, CEO of Breakthrough Victoria. “Conflux and this investment are a great testament to the innovation coming out of Australia and we are proud to contribute to the creation of sustainable jobs in our region and support a local company that has cemented its position on the world stage .”

Conflux Technology has built a reputation as an industry leader, serving a variety of industries including motorsports, high performance industrial machinery, hydrogen, e-mobility, defense and more. In addition to the growth and expansion enabled by recent funding, Conflux is collaborating Odys Aviation together to advance the development of the next generation of regional VTOL aircraft.

Combining Odys’ expertise in hybrid electric propulsion and Conflux’s innovative manufacturing solutions, the companies aim to create a heat recovery turbo generator solution that can be seamlessly integrated into an existing aerospace turbine and reduce fuel consumption by over can reduce by 40%. The solution aims to reduce weight and increase the efficiency of the turbo generator system. The system will be integrated into Odys Aviation’s 6.4-meter wingspan Laila aircraft, an aircraft designed to carry cargo in multiple configurations. Once commissioned, the aircraft will be able to reach a range of 720 kilometers with payloads of up to 60 kilograms.

“Conflux’s additive manufacturing and metal 3D printing technology removes traditional design barriers and allows us to bring geometrically complex and performance-optimized recuperator designs to life – ultimately leading to longer-range and higher payload aircraft. We are excited to work with the Conflux team to redefine the capabilities of VTOL UAS systems,” said James Dorris, co-founder and CEO of Odys.

“Next-generation aviation is an important industry for us and we continue to demonstrate our commitment to supporting innovators in this space. We are proud to support customers like Odys Aviation by providing them with the tools they need to drive advances in sustainable aviation and operate their aircraft efficiently,” added Fuller.

Conflux Technology currently has a $6 billion share of the global heat exchanger market and looks forward to further expanding through new partnerships and other developments to be announced in the coming months. The company’s goal is to industrialize both its heat exchanger designs and manufacturing process so that its customers can manufacture their Conflux heat exchangers locally for fast and efficient production. Continuous growth will help them achieve this goal.
