“Confluencias” will boost the film industry in the region – La Discusión

Like every year, the Ñuble National Film Festival presents the “Confluencias” section, faithful to its local spirit and with a sense of territory, the industry area receives its name precisely from the Confluencia Bridge, a geographical place where the river joins Ñuble and Itata. Great ideas converge in the laboratory, being a meeting space between audiovisual filmmakers and mentors.

In this fifth version, 15 audiovisual projects in development have been selected, whose filmmakers will travel to the region during the festival days to participate in the First Films, Documentary and New Media laboratories. These laboratories aim to be training spaces for dialogue and creation mediated by prominent representatives of the national audiovisual industry, who will have the mission of guiding and promoting the participating projects.

The projects “Maybe tomorrow everything starts again” by director Víctor Hugo Perona, “Plaster Virgins” by Katherina Harder, “The Red Garden” by Sebastián Palominos, “The Sheared Sheep” by Rossana were selected for the First Works Laboratory. Castillo, “Chincolito” by Zara Monardes and “Plasma” by Daniel Aspillaga.

Within the “Documentary” section there are two directors of Ñuble: Carlos Villegas with the project “Ame Bolivia” and Natalia Jara with “Juegos de la Imaginación”. In addition, the projects “Finally Your Traces” by Cristián Hidalgo, “The Longest Night” by Mackarena Veas, “María 3 Cocos” by Carolina Cheuquepan and “Acople Subterráneo” by Antonia Valladares will also be present.

In “New Media” the projects are “Espectro Derivas” by Almendra Díaz, “The OmniGallery” by Ignacio Farias and “Infinitas VR” by Javier Garay, avant-garde projects that propose new ways of telling stories and making films, using technology at through augmented reality and virtual reality.

Lasting 4 days, the program and work sessions will be guided by national professionals who will personally help the filmmakers strengthen the creation of their projects. Through group and collaborative workshops, the aim is to generate a dialogue meeting around the construction and production of films, giving a creative and training boost to the creative teams. These Industry activities will have as their main headquarters the Municipal Cultural Center of Chillán, located at Herminda Martín 579.

In addition, participants in the New Media Laboratory will be able to present the prototypes of their projects in the New Media and Virtual Reality Room. For the third year, the public will be able to test projects in development, as well as already completed projects in virtual reality by Chilean filmmakers.
