The cars of drivers who have consumed alcohol or drugs will now be able to be confiscated for the benefit of the state. This is already a fact with the amendments to the Criminal Code, published in issue 67 of the “State Gazette”, writes Glass News bg.

Enterprising citizens are interested in the prices of impounded vehicles, and others see unexpected benefits. After the wave of drunk and drugged drivers caught on the roads in recent months, drivers believe that the new action will significantly ease traffic.

The second is if the driver has already been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol – in case of a repeat offense with more than 0.5 per thousand, the car will be confiscated, and 1 to 5 years in prison and a fine of 500 to 1,500 BGN are imposed.
If you drive a car after using “narcotic substances or their analogues”, the penalties are confiscation, 1 to 3 years in prison and a fine of 500 to 1,500 BGN.
In case of recurrence, the penalty is confiscation, 1 to 5 years in prison and a fine of 500 to 1,500 BGN. If the offender is not the owner of the driven vehicle, he can pay its equivalent.
