In recent days, there have been reports that the SSC Tuatara is the world’s newest fastest production car. We are clear now.

The American car manufacturer SSC North America has really become the fastest mass-produced car on the planet. But there are several championships associated with speed.
Let’s start with the most important, the official record for which the average speed of two rides in the opposite direction is used. In this case, the Tuatara, driven by Oliver Webb, will be entered in the Guinness Book of Records (perhaps, the official press release is silent about the famous record book) with a reading of 508.73 km / h.
For comparison, so far the record belonged to Koenigseggu Agera RS with 447.19 km / h. So the improvement is incredibly significant. In addition, the Tuatara was the first production car to exceed the 500 km / h mark.

To have a complete picture, let’s look at both rides, from which the average was created. In the first American hypersport it reached 484.53 km / h, in the second even 532.93 km / h. And according to the driver Tuatar, she would have managed even more, even at this speed she was allegedly out of breath. And it was said to be blowing.
Because the record attempt took place on a road near Las Vegas (State Route 160, where Koenigsegg also succeeded in 2017), 532.93 km / h is also the highest speed ever achieved on a public road.
Other records relate to records per flying mile and flying kilometer. In the first case, the SSC records 503.92 km / h, in the second 517.16 km / h.
As a reminder, the Tuataru is powered by a pair of turbocharged 5.9-liter V8 with an output of up to 1305 kW (approximately 1775 hp). SSC plans to build 100 specimens, the price starts at about CZK 37.6 million.
