Confirmed positive by Covid-19 of the ‘Manos de Piedra’ Durán

One of the legends of world boxing, the Panamanian Roberto ‘Manos de Piedra’ Durán, 69, tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday and remains in the hospital in Panama City where he was admitted that same day for presenting a viral illness.

“My dad’s tests have just arrived and confirm that he is positive for COVID-19. Thank God for now he is not having symptoms beyond a cold”, reported the son of the former boxing champion, Robin Durán.

Durán, also known as ‘el Cholo’, was taken this Thursday to a private health center after feeling a “little cold” and as prevention both because of their age and because “he has a lung that doesn’t work 100% due to an accident” he suffered in 2001 in Argentina, his son explained in a statement.

The former Panamanian boxer had a car accident in Buenos Aires in 2001 in which he suffered fractures in the ribs that compromised one of his lungs.

“We just talked to the doctor and he tells us that the lungs are fine and there are no signs of seriousness”, expanded the statement of the exboxer’s son.

The four-time world boxing champion has been an activist on his social networks during the COVID-19 pandemic, calling on the population to take care of the new coronavirus.

In the statement, Robin He thanked the population for being aware of his father and, by the way, denied that the ex-Panamanian is in intensive care and connected to a respirator. “Just keep watching”, clarified.

“Let’s continue to have faith that everything will be fine. I keep you informed.”he pointed out.
