Ola Larsson has been technical director in Blåvitt since April 2023. Now his time at the club is over.
On Saturday, Blåvitt announced that the 47-year-old is leaving the club at the beginning of the year.
– It has not been as quick to achieve success as any of us would have liked. When we now look at the whole for the sport and for society, we have different opinions on how willing we are to take risks in the future. I respect that, that we are in some parts to move forward at different speeds. Basically, there is nothing surprising about this and we really only have good things to say about each other – unlike what you might think if you trust second-hand stores, says Ola Larsson on the club’s website.
Håkan Mild, club director:
– There are a lot of wrong speculations about people with us that are not true. We like each other and we wish each other the best, but the truth is that we in the group do not completely agree on certain frameworks, and sometimes that can determine whether you want to continue together or not. isn’t it. We in the governing body and the board agree with Ola on a lot and share the same goals – everyone in IFK Göteborg wants to succeed. But we can see in a different way some of the paths we can take to get there.
Leaving after two seasons
During Ola Larsson’s (almost) two full seasons, IFK Göteborg narrowly escaped qualifying for the top league.
That leaves Larsson as a result of Blåvitt’s ongoing evaluation, according to the GP’s information. So far, head scout Stig Torbjörnsen and physical trainer Kalle Olsson have also left, as well as some players whose contracts are expiring.
Right after the news that Ola Larsson was leaving the association, it was also clear that the president Richard Berkling was leaving.
IFK Gothenburg’s internal evaluation continues – at the same time they announce that a specialist company has started an external investigation some time ago. It is done on behalf of the board of the association. A recruitment process has begun to find a new person in charge of sports for the men’s team.
The GP is looking for Ola Larsson, Håkan Mild and Richard Berkling.
