Infinity Ward has confirmed that it is currently working on a “new Call of Duty: Warzone experience” and a sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Both games will run on a brand new engine. The studio announced this in a call with the press and influencers.
It had been in the air for a while that both games were coming and now it has finally been confirmed. The sequel to Modern Warfare brings the series back to the present after a foray into World War II with Vanguard. The game is being developed on a brand new engine that Infinity Ward has been working on for the past few years. An exact release date has not yet been announced, but the sequel to Modern Warfare should be released in the fall.
Work is also underway on a “new Warzone experience.” The new Warzone is from scratch made on the same engine as the new Call of Duty. According to Infinity Ward, it will be a major evolution of the battle royale genre. The developer also hinted at a new, ambitious Sandbox mode. It is not yet known when the new version of Warzone will be released.
