Confirmed Case of Monkeypox in Indonesia, Second Case Reported in Jakarta

Jakarta. The Health Surveillance and Quarantine Directorate of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) confirmed that one Indonesian citizen was exposed to monkey pox (Monkeypox).

“Not long ago, yesterday we received a report of another confirmed case,” said Chita Septiawati, member of the Ministry of Health’s Surveillance and Quarantine Directorate Working Team, quoted from Antara, Monday (16/10/23).

He said the case of monkey pox was reported on October 14 2023. The patient tested positive after going through a series of tests.

He explained that the patient who tested positive was a resident of DKI Jakarta. With the discovery of this new case, there are currently two cases of monkey pox in Indonesia after it was first discovered on August 20 2022.

“So to date we have two confirmed cases, both of which happen to be in Jakarta,” he explained
