Champions League
The Argentine did not finish the match with Olympique de Marseille well and will not train with his teammates. He returns on Monday, one day before the duel with Bayern Munich.
Lionel Messi has his heart in his hand for the PSG fans. After the defeat and elimination of the French Cup at the hands of Alexis Sánchez’s Olympique de Marseille, the Parisian cast now regrets the Argentine’s injury.
Just days after his return to the Champions League, where they will face Bayern Munich in the round of 16, the trans-Andean star presented physical problems that kept him in doubt. This Friday the club issued a statement in which he not only confirms the situation, but leaves it practically ruled out for the duel.
During Le Classique this Wednesday, Lionel Messi started and was present throughout the match in which they fell 2-1. In the final minutes of the commitment, the 10 of the Albiceleste felt pain and immediately set off the alarms on the campus.
Since then there has been speculation about all kinds of injuries, but it wasn’t until noon this Friday that the truth came out. From the club they clarified the situation, in which they confirm that it will be low for a few days.
“Struck in the hamstring against Marseille, Leo Messi will remain under review for 48 hours,” they explained.
This leaves Lionel Messi as the big doubt, although more outside than inside the clash with Bayern Munich in the Champions League. “His return to training is scheduled for Monday,” they added.
This last point is fundamental, since it will be there where it will be evaluated if he is in a position to add minutes in the round of 16 key. Of course, everything indicates that they will not risk it and it will remain below the summons.
PSG regrets the injury of Lionel Messi
After Lionel Messi’s injury was confirmed, PSG were hurt at not being able to count on him in the Champions League and Ligue 1, where this weekend they have a key match against Guillermo Maripán’s AS Monaco.
Coach Christophe Galtier spoke before the game and said that “we know the importance of Leo in our game, he is the facilitator, he is a goalscorer, he is decisive… Obviously when you go to Monaco without Leo it is annoying.”
Along the same lines, he emphasized that they will not rush Kylian Mbappé, who is also injured. “The player’s health comes first and I will be very attentive to that,” he said.
