Confined families of Saint-Germain-en-Laye have their portrait taken

His playing field is filming. Where she usually officiates as a still photographer. Deprived of work since the start of confinement, Stéphanie Branchu spent “two weeks tidying up” her house in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, before embarking on a new photographic project.

“Since we are almost all confined to families, these are the families I wanted to show. To highlight everyone’s privacy and daily life during confinement, explains Stéphanie Branchu. Symbolically, I wanted to reveal personalities, moods and individual trends, through accessories or activities that would best illustrate the confinement of homes. Sport, cooking, DIY, learning, partying, music… ”

His project, “Family Therapy” is therefore composed of around fifty black and white photos on which pose the families whose members each chose an object or an attitude which left its mark on this so atypical period: sewing machine , badminton rackets, exercise bike, laptop, novel, paper airplane, kitchen whisk or bottle of wine…

“These small photo sessions, even if the time of the photograph was never very long, were for all of us a little oxygen balloon, says Stéphanie. Beyond the work of remembrance for families and for the community, this allowed us to meet – even from afar – and to live together a very nice human adventure. “

The entire Family Therapy project is visible on the account Stéphanie Branchu’s Instagram (StephanieBranchu) where she posts a new photo every day.

“Stéphanie is a friend, says Virginie, confined with her niece Bulle and her son Milo. When she offered me the photo, I immediately accepted because it was a good opportunity to laugh and do something quirky and fun. I especially wanted to take a photo that makes people smile. Since the start of confinement, we take an aperitif every night, it has become the daily festive moment. So the bottles came naturally. But we didn’t want to risk spoiling wine… We first drank everything and then we filled them with vinegar to take the photo! “
