VfR Heilbronn can make up more ground in the state league fight for the promotion relegation place – with a larger squad at SV Kaisersbach.
VfR Heilbronn only started the 2022/2023 season of the Württemberg state football league as a promoted team. However, like every year with ambitions. Now 20 of 34 game days have passed – and the black and white team, which was only founded in 2018, is back in the lead again. And in such a way that they corrected the originally stated goal and parted ways with their hitherto successful coach before the winter break. To, as Chairman Onur Celik explains, “to get to the next level”.
Particular attention was paid to the restart after the winter break. And although it was “only” against the bottom of the table, TSV Ilshofen II, the 5-0 win gave VfR Heilbronn wings. The reason for this, however, is not the clear result, but rather the way it came about. Because it bears the signature of new coach Thomas Kettner. Even more: The VfR is now fourth in the national football league and has reduced the gap to promotion relegation place two.

VfR Heilbronn: Squad grows for the soccer state league game at SV Kaisersbach
Three points now separate VfR Heilbronn from second-placed TSV Crailsheim – with room for improvement. Because the chest of the black and white is now so broad that the players could burst at the seams on Sunday, March 12, at 3 p.m. at SV Kaisersbach. Team manager Zdenko Juric explains: “We are confident that our success story can continue on the small artificial turf pitch of Kaisersbacher.” Not only because of the victory in the first leg of the season in the national soccer league…
Rather, some players from VfR Heilbronn are returning to the state league game at SV Kaisersbach. Team manager Zdenko Juric explains: “We were actually very thin against TSV Ilshofen II for our broad squad.” That’s changing now. Oberliga new signing Robin Dörner can play from the start, the central defender doubles Jannick Danecker and Niklas Hofmann are fit again. Juric promises: “If we stay true to ourselves and our philosophy, this game is definitely manageable.”
The success story of VfR Heilbronn 96/18
Since it was founded in March 2018, VfR Heilbronn 96/18 has risen every season and is captivating more and more spectators each season. The previous record was set for the home game of the Black and Whites in the 2022/2023 state football league season against leaders Türkspor Neckarsulm – with 1,730 visitors in Heilbronn’s Frankenstadion. How much the VfR interests people is also impressively shown in social media.
