TOKYO, KOMPAS.com – A man Japan nicknamed ” Twitter Killer “for inciting his victims on social media. In court on Wednesday (30/09/2020) he confessed to having killed 9 people, local media reported. AFP.
But the perpetrator’s lawyer was named Takahiro Shiraishi (29) said the charges should be reduced because the victims – who had intended to commit suicide – gave consent to be killed.
Shiraishi was also charged with mutilating his victim and storing body parts in the refrigerator. He did not dispute the 9 murder charges, saying they were “all true”, reports NHK.
She also faces charges of rape, according to local media reports.
Shiraishi is accused of using Twitter to contact victims aged 15-26 who posted their suicide intentions online online. He tells the victim that he can help carry out his suicide plan, or even die with them.
If convicted of murder, Shiraishi will be sentenced to death by hanging in Japan.
But his lawyers want the charges against his client to be reduced to “consensual murder,” which can result in a prison sentence of between 6 months and 7 years.

In daily interviews Mainichi Shimbun, Shiraishi said he disagreed with his lawyer and would tell prosecutors that he “killed without consent”.
“There were bruises on the back of the victim’s head, meaning there was no consent and I did it so they didn’t fight back,” he said in comments published Wednesday (30/09/2020).
Shiraishi was arrested 3 years ago by police investigating the disappearance of a 23-year-old woman, who reportedly wrote on Twitter about her suicide intentions.
After she went missing, her older brother gained access to her Twitter account and noticed something suspicious.

The police then raided Shiraishi’s home on the morning of Halloween 2017.
They found 9 mutilated bodies with 240 bone fragments stored in refrigerators and toolboxes, and dusted with cat litter sand to hide them.
Shiraishi berkata ke Mainichi Shimbun, he “did not plan to be arrested” and bragged that he would not be identified until his final murder.
More than 600 people attended yesterday’s first trial, said NHK.
Japan has the highest suicide rate among the G7 industrialized countries, with more than 20,000 cases of people committing suicide each year.
