Confession by Gas Station Shooter: ‘I Had to Fire Fatal Shots to Save Myself’

Javier L. (41) has confessed that he shot and killed Ludson S. (37) in December at the Esso gas station on the Ringbaan-Oost in Tilburg. The Tilburger says that he has been threatened for some time by the victim and his brother. He had to defend himself, he told Friday at an interim session before the court in Breda: “Otherwise I would have been dead myself.”

On December 21, Ludson S. was shot dead at the gas station early in the evening. He came there with his brother to refuel. Suspect L. had been there for a while. When the S. brothers arrived and saw L., they threatened him again, the suspect said on Friday. He then drew a gun that a friend had given him.

The public prosecutor said that images show that L. immediately starts shooting. First on Lutgardo S. (34) and later on his brother, Ludson S. He is hit several times. According to the officer, it can then be seen that L. walks towards Ludson and shoots at him a few more times at close range.

L.’s lawyer said that his client never wanted this, but that he had no choice. Four days before the fatal shooting, he was still threatened with a firearm on the Verdiplein in Tilburg-Noord.

Rapper Boechi
On the day of the shooting, he was also threatened during the memorial service for the shot rapper Boechi at the Willem II stadium. There he was told that ‘it was going to happen today’. According to L., his son saw a firearm. He was able to throw himself at the man with the firearm and prevent shooting there.

Later that day, both parties met again at the gas station. L.’s lawyer pointed out that the brothers were known to be very dangerous. For example, Lutgardo is currently a suspect in the murder case involving Peter R. de Vries. Justice thinks he recruited people to film the seriously injured De Vries.

Unarmed
This Lutgardo has previously been convicted of a fatal robbery and possession of firearms. Incidentally, the brothers were unarmed at the gas station.

Javier L. has stated extensively in recent months that he is the one who shot Ludson and images also indicate that. His lawyer wanted L. to be allowed to await his trial in freedom, because there would be severe defence. The judge did not agree.

The lawsuit will most likely not be dealt with substantively before the summer. Some studies have not yet been completed. For example, the lawyer still wants to have the man interviewed who was in the car with L. at the gas station. So far, this eyewitness refuses to say anything about the case.
