Related hoax information COVID-19 still circulating in the community. One of them is a hoax about the dangers of drug interactions spread by dr Lois Owien ‘took a victim’.
There are still people who believe in circulating hoax information. A Depok resident named Helmi Indra told the story of his father who died after being consumed by a hoax related to Corona from dr Lois.
Helmi initially said that his father was one of those who believed in several hoaxes related to Corona. One of them is related to the illegal Corona vaccine hoax.
“My father was consumed by the hoax that vaccines are haram. Even though at that time I had shared news about the MUI which stated the vaccine was halal. At that time the vaccine was Sinovac. Even though you also have comorbid diseases,” Helmi said when contacted, Saturday (17/7/2021) .
His father, who lives in Tegal, refused to be vaccinated. Until finally, on July 6, his father was infected with Corona.
Helmi said his father was infected with Corona accompanied by symptoms of dizziness and weakness. Previously, his sister was also said to have tested positive for COVID-19.
“The first symptom was on July 6, even though two days earlier my sister who was in Tegal was also exposed. Then she felt dizzy,” he said.
Helmi said that his father did not want to take medicine at that time. Because his father was influenced by Dr. Lois Owien’s explanation at that time, who said it was drug interactions that actually made people die.
At that time, his father was said to only want to take painkillers. Helmi also admitted that he had argued to ask his father to take medicine.
“Unfortunately, those weeks were busy with Doctor Lois’ podcast about the drug interactions that caused a lot of deaths regarding COVID-19. Well, my father believed that. I don’t want to take a lot of medicine. I just want painkillers, I was afraid that I would lose my breath. I had an argument when I asked my father to take medicine,” he said.
Shortly after, his father died at the age of 60. Perhaps the hoax about Corona for some people is a joke. However, for Helmi, who has lost his father, hoaxes about Corona have a tremendous impact. He is even still actively arguing with a number of hoax spreaders on WAG.
“The impact is extraordinary, this is a hoax. Even I am still arguing with the people in the WA group. They don’t even realize that what is being shared is dangerous,” he said.
