Nicky Hayen is “not completely satisfied” despite Club Brugge’s 1-0 victory against PAOK in the Conference League quarter-final first leg on Thursday.
Hayen said Wednesday at a press conference that he wanted his team to “in good position” before the return match. It is therefore with a one-goal lead that Bruges will travel to the Toumba stadium on Thursday April 17.
“Everyone is frustrated not to have increased the score“, Hayen confided in a press conference after the meeting. “You win a European Cup match and everyone is disappointed. This shows the winning mentality that reigns in the core. This remains a positive result and we will go to Greece to play our game.“
The Bruges coach regretted a “lack of efficiency” including a missed penalty by Igor Thiago in the second half. The Brazilian has not found the net since January 30. “Igor had scored all his penalties, it was the logical choice. It’s always easy to ask the question afterwards. I have nothing to reproach him for. He gave everything for the team. We continue to support him and I’m sure the goals and confidence will return.“
