On the sidelines of their participation in the work of the Fourth United Nations Committee on Special Political Questions and Distribution, which is being held at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, from October 7 to 14, 2024, the deputy representatives of the Assembly of the National People, (Messrs. Miloud Tsouh, Mohamed Ouakli and Hicham Benhaddad), part in a conference on Western Sahara, organized by the International Organization of Lawyers of Western Sahara.

Activists, politicians and officials from Algeria, Western Sahara, the United States of America, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Colombia and others took part in it.

During this conference, seminars were given by Dr. Sidi Mohamed Ammar, Representative of the Polisario Front to the United Nations, with Ms. Inès Miranda Navarro, President of the International Organization of Lawyers of Western Sahara, with Ms. Ana Maria Rosa Gomez, former ambassador in Portugal, and Mr. Alejandro Toro, president of the parliamentary group for Colombia – Western Sahara relations, as well as Dr. Ismail Dabash, university professor.

The conditions suffered by the Sahrawi people in the occupied areas as a result of the Moroccan repression, which is increasing day by day, were analyzed and separated by the speakers, as well as ‘ the Moroccan regime rejects all the efforts of the societies and human rights. groups to travel to Sahrawi occupied areas to assess the human rights situation there.

The speakers also highlighted the violations committed by Morocco and how it violated all the laws and resolutions of the UN in a shameful way by using corruption and asking some countries to open false diplomatic representations in the residential areas and termination of illegal partnerships and agreements.

In this context, the decision of the European Court of Justice invalidating the trade agreements concluded between Morocco and the European Union was welcomed by the speakers who sees it as a great boon to the Sahrawi cause.

The participants in this conference did not fail to emphasize the need to mobilize support for the Sahrawi cause in all countries of the world and take advantage of all local, regional and international to express the suffering of this population, denouncing the Moroccan occupation practices. and a call for the acceleration of the implementation of the UN resolutions aimed at allowing the Sahrawi people to regain their freedom and independence.
