Who benefits from parental leave? What is the meaning of the expression “Husband and Name!” In the 21st century? Why is it important and how to maintain a dignified relationship with the child’s mother even after the relationship breaks down? The answers to these questions will be sought at this year’s conference “Fathers. Relations ”organized by the association“ Fathers ”.

The conference will take place on Friday, September 10, from 10.00 to 15.00 in the event room MINOX, Jaoje Teika, building “Teodors”, Gustava Zemgala Gatvē 74, and online on the “Fathers” “Facebook” page and “Youtube” channel. Live broadcasts will also be available on the Facebook page of LSM.LV and LSM Children’s Room.

The conference will be attended only with an interoperable Covid-19 certificate. The number of full-time participants is limited.

The conference will be opened by Ingus Alliks, State Secretary of the Ministry of Welfare, Second Secretary of the Swedish Embassy Hannes Tordengren and Elīna Kļaviņa, the head of the association “Fathers”.

In the discussion “Father on parental leave. Who benefits? ” Gatis Smidrovskis, a member of the board of the association “Fathers”, Ingus Alliks, State Secretary of the Ministry of Welfare, a father and a doctor who has been on parental leave – Māris Rinkulis and social anthropologist Klāvs Sedlenieks will participate. This discussion is funded by the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Program (2014-2020).

In the discussion “Husband and name!” Lauris Bokišs, a member of the board of the association “Fathers”, Helmuts Bēķis, the head of the men’s health platform virutests.lv, director Elmārs Seņkovs and a writer will take part in the talks on Thor Rutgersson (Sweden).

In the discussion “When relations break down, negotiations continue” Dad from the association “Fathers” Ritvars Vulis, psychologist and head of fathers support groups Jānis Broks, lawyer of the Children’s Rights Division of the Ombudsman’s Office Agris Skudra and member of the board of the association “Fathers” Lauris Bokišs will participate.
