Conference – 34th Days of Linguistics East Asia

The 34th East Asian Linguistics Days (JLAO34) organized by the Center for Linguistic Research on East Asia (CRLAO) will be held online on July 7, 8 and 9, 2021.





Since 1985, the Journées de Linguistique sur Asie Orientale (JLAO) each year allow researchers to present their work on the languages ​​of East Asia: languages ​​of Southeast Asia, Sino-Tibetan languages, Japanese languages, etc.

All linguistics sub-disciplines are represented:

  • diachronic or synchronic linguistics
  • morpho-phonology, syntax and semantics
  • oral or written languages
  • writing
  • field linguistics
  • theoretical linguistics
  • dialectology
  • typology

The Days are intended to be a place of interdisciplinary and interareal exchange. They have welcomed some of the biggest names in East Asian language linguistics internationally and allow doctoral students and young researchers to promote their work.

Call for papers

The participants in these Days will be able to present a paper in all fields of linguistic research on the languages ​​of East Asia. The working languages ​​are English and French.

34th Paris Meeting on East Asian Linguistics

The 34th Paris Meeting on East Asian Linguistics (JLAO 34) organized by the Center de Recherches Linguistiques sur Asie Orientale will be held online on July 7-9, 2021.

Held every year since 1985, the Paris Meeting on East Asian Linguistics (JLAO) allows researchers to present their work on the languages of East Asia: languages of Southeast Asia, Sino-Tibetan  languages, Japonic languages, Altaic languages, etc.

All the subfields of linguistics are represented:diachronic or synchronic linguistics:

  • morphophonology, syntax and semantics
  • oral or written languages
  • writing systems
  • field linguistics
  • theoretical linguistics
  • dialectology
  • typology

The meeting is intended to be a place of interdisciplinary exchange across East-Asian linguistic areas. It has welcomed some of the biggest international names in East Asian linguistics while allowing doctoral students and young researchers to publicize their work.

Call for Papers
