Confectionery Conrado delivers the check for 10,000 euros awarded in a roscn to a neighbor from Jimnez de Jamuz
‘Conrado’ confectionery, located in the Leonese town of La Bañeza, has delivered this Thursday the check for 10,000 euros for the prize hidden in one of the hundreds of roscones that this workshop has sold at Christmas and that has smiled at an 82-year-old neighbor Jimenez de Jamuz. It was in 2009 when Manuel González, then manager of this confectionery, which opened its doors in 1856, decided to change the traditional “figurine” hidden in all the roscones for a check for 500 euros, a figure that has grown year after year until reach 10,000 euros.
This morning, Consolación Carbajo, who bought the roscón to celebrate New Year’s Eve, has collected the check for 10,000 euros that recognizes her as the winner of the draw that was held on January 6, before a notary.
Until last year, a little piece of paper with the prize was hidden in one of the roscones, although this system has had to change due to the requirement of State Lotteries and Gambling, so each roscón had a cardboard with a number and that same number was deposited in an urn, where on the 6th the winning number was drawn.
