Condor Flight DE1453 Makes Record-Breaking 3:23 Hour Journey from Fuerteventura to Stuttgart

A Condor flight had a long departure delay in Fuerteventura. Because of the ban on night flights, he threatened not to arrive in Stuttgart on time. But the crew made it faster than usual.

No jet aircraft are allowed to land in Stuttgart after 11:30 p.m. There is only an exception for flights that are delayed. You can touch down on the runway of the airport in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg by midnight at the latest. That’s why Condor flight DE1453 on July 6th turned out to be a nail-biter.

According to the flight plan, the flight from Fuerteventura was supposed to land in Stuttgart at 11:20 p.m. But the Airbus A320 had already landed on the Canary Islands 40 minutes late. The Bulgaria Air crew, which carried out the flight on a wet lease for Condor, therefore tried to move quickly in order to arrive in Germany before the ban on night flights. But Spanish air traffic control gave her a take-off time of 7:30 p.m Fuerteventura newspaper writes.

Air traffic control had insight

This means that the white A320 with the yellow Condor stripes on the tail fin could only have taken off 1:20 hours later than planned. Getting there in time would have been almost impossible. The crew therefore discussed what to do. According to the report, there was talk of letting the passengers get off again and putting them up in hotels.

At the last moment, however, air traffic control called and informed the crew that they could take off. At 7:11 p.m. the A320 with the registration LZ-FBK took off from Fuerteventura Airport. And in the end he landed in Stuttgart at 11:34 p.m. It only took him 3:23 hours. According to Condor, the “weather and especially wind conditions favored flights from the Canary Islands back to Germany”.

Flight times of up to 4:11 hours

The time is record-breaking. In the last few days, the fastest flight from Fuerteventura to Stuttgart took 3:25 hours, the slowest 4:11 hours. Condor and Tuifly are on the route.
