Condor Flight DE1412 Forced to Turn Around and Land in Frankfurt Due to Technical Problems

A Condor flight from Munich to the Canary Islands had to turn around in Switzerland – and landed in Frankfurt. The reason was technical problems.

While the inhabitants of the Canary Islands took to the streets last Saturday to demand tourism limits, planes from all over Europe continued to land at the islands’ six international airports. However, for the passengers on Condor flight DE1412, the flight from Munich to Fuerteventura took much longer than expected.

The Airbus A320 with registration D-AICA departed from Munich punctually at 12:15 pm. But after 40 minutes in the air – just before Switzerland’s border with France – the 26-year-old jet turned around and landed in Frankfurt about an hour later.

Problems with valves

“The reason for this was that a technical problem was reported on one of the valves, so the team decided to return just as a precaution,” said a Condor spokesperson. The plane then landed safely at Frankfurt Airport.

The plane landed in Frankfurt instead of Munich because Condor was able to provide a new plane at Germany’s largest airport to take the passengers to Fuerteventura on the same day. The new flight with the Condor Airbus A320 D-AICE took off from Frankfurt shortly after 4pm and landed in Fuerteventura just under four hours later.

Airbus is still in Frankfurt

The Airbus A320 is currently undergoing a detailed technical inspection in Frankfurt. It is not yet clear when the device will return to normal service.
